10U Team Qualifies for Dvision I Nationals

The Jaguars 10U team qualified for the Division I AAU girls’ basketball National Tournament held in July in Disney World, Florida. The team made up of players from Perkiomen Valley, Spring-ford, Kennedy-Kendrick and the surrounding school districts have come together though strong individual effort and good solid team work to develop into a National AAU qualifying basketball team.
The team qualified by finishing the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament with a (4-1) record their only loss coming to the eventual tournament winner. The Jaguars used four different leading scorers and an aggressive team defense to achieve their goal of qualifying for the national tournament.
The Jags started out slow in the qualifier, falling behind a tall South Jersey team. Sparked by a strong inside presence off the bench from, a tenacious full court team defense and an offensive onslaught the Jags scored 29 of the next 31 points to take a commanding 29 to 8 half time lead. They went on to win this hotly contested game 38-24. The next opponent was a team from Philadelphia. Again the Jags tough defense and some timely scoring by coaxed the Jags to a hard fought 25-18 battle. The third game would be no easier for the Jags. The Jags defense continued to lead the way. Using an aggressive diamond zone press and a vigorous 1-3-1 half court trap, the Jaguars held their opponent from the Main Line to 10 total points in their 24-10 win. In the semi-final game, the Jaguars lost their only game to eventual tournament winner Philadelphia. The young Jaguars showed their resilience and bounced right back in the consolation game with a solid (36-15) win vs the team from South Jersey.

13U Pocono Spring Jam Champions

The Collegeville Jaguars 13U team claimed the BBall Shootout Pocono Spring Jam championship at East Stroudsburg University May 16th and 17th. The Jaguars battled with teams from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania in four hard fought games. Aggressive defense, patient offense and balanced scoring were the keys to the Jags 4-0 weekend record claiming the tournament championship.
